Before buying it was rather green. (already a little cleaned at the right)
After really cleaning and waxing it shines again!
Then I discovered it was once named "bumblebee" and "Hanna-4".
According to old papers from previous owners "bumblebee" was the first name

After 3 years it hits the water again and is ready to go to it's new home.

All the paint was in a very bad condition.
Sanded and repainted it.

And I really mean ALL paint.
A little white to keep it modern!
Refitted the Wempe's

Not only painted the wood, also the floor (grey) and the ceiling. On the picture it's still a very white primer.
It's finished with Sigma S2U Satin Ral 9010 (Reinweiss) like the picture above

The clock's of the brand Wempe are original black but there were white spots on it.
Black looks a little sad and dated so I decided to sand and polish them.
The watch itself is repaired because it was eaten by a leaking battery.

The door wasn't rainproof. At all!
Now it is! Made from 5 mm lexan.

I replaced all seven rusty nuts because I was afraid to loose my keel.
Don't understand why someone used steel nuts. Now it's Stainless steel like it should be.

The sink was already repaired once. But the drain was made from? Correct: iron ...
This drain is cut and now it has a nice stainless steel exhaust.

Made a tool to remove the mast
(thanks to Cor Baas)
Up to the next season !!

All four winches runned heavy.
Degreased, cleaned and then lubricated then with PTFE, actually ment for bicycle chains, metal and plastic parts.
Photos were taken under a blue cover ...

From the rudder always a little water was leaking. Irritating!.
This place is almost inaccessible, but it's cleaned and I put some expoyhars around it.
Then put an extra layer Vario Bond (de IJssel-coatings.nl) around it. |

In the meantime it's spring.
I discovered the tube for the echo sounder used more oil then my car.
Decreased it and glued it to the hull with glassfibre and epoxy.

The wood below the door was partly bad and in the front it was very bad.
Replaced both pieces. Made it 8 cm higher. Why not...
Also glued it with glass fibre and epoxy. On the picture the paint is glossy because it's still wet.

The corroding aluminium caused a big tear in the deck near the rigging.
Really had to fix this.

Fixed this with 3 mm Stainless steel.
Just take a close look to the left picture to understand why it's a little bigger.

In 1982 her name was "bumblebee" in Essen, in 1993 imported as "Hanna 4" from Mainz to Stellendam.
Then some nameless years in Oostvoorne.
And now her name is "Bumblebee" again. I used the same font VAG Rounded, but this time with capital B.

The rubber below the hatch had a cut-out, probably for a fuel hose. Not very smart.
It also was in a very bad state so I replaced it.
Partnumber 10000361 at www.eriks.nl

I lost my windex (15") because the mounting was worn out.
The stainless bolt was corroded into the aluminium mast....
So I drilled and tapped it again with UNC 5/16. Masthead soldered directly instead of using clips.

The old board was totally rotten.
All chain plates are glued again with Bison polymer sealant. Brown repair is done by a previous owner ....
A new board created. 15 mm instead of 18 mm. Top side "painted" with epoxy and bottom with Wijzonol.
The aluminum pole is "painted" with epoxy, then painted with black satin Histor Perfect Finish. |

There leaked a lot of water through the mast. There were two collars with foam edge and a lot of silicone sealant.
Removed everything and made a collar of rubber pond foil. Hole cut of just 2.5 x 3.5 cm. |

When replacing the plastic parts of the landing there was no more wood behind it.
Further inspection showed that the right seat was very bad. The left wasn't too bad ...
The rot is cut away and repaired with 8 mm oucume. All mounting points for the terminals are drilled
10 mm and filled with vario bond.

The aluminum wheel for the steel cable of the outhaul was rusted stuck.
Replaced it by a Tufnol wheel (vanderkrogtbootservice.nl) in the original housing and used a piece of dyneema line (busmariteam.nl).

I wanted to know how it fits together:
There are still two pulleys in the boom for an additional delay.
The bottom line leaves the boom in the middle.

Now the terminals in the cockpit are still temporarily dismounted: The levers were completely discolored,
and the wheels were worn out completely.
So I made new wheels of 12 mm polyacetal (allflex-plastics.com) and ordered new levers from 4uboot.nl.

The attachment points for the landing were not good anymore. One was even broken
Made new ones of 10 mm PE (allflex-plastics.com). This time the holes are only in the PE and NOT
in polyester because this caused the rotting of the seats!!

The plastic pieces are replaced by 5 mm Lexan.
Both the overflow and the lock had to be shortened by one or two milli-meter.
The screws are replaced by bolts with a disc. Additional investment of two 25 cents coins :-)

The 10-watt bulbs were replaced with two 1 watt Edison LEDs in series (LED-buy.nl)
Also a big 47 ohm resistor is included.
The LEDs run at only half power and the light is sufficient.

One compass had no light (anymore) and the other light was almost invisible yellow.
Now, on each side there's a red super flux LED (LED-buy.nl) in series with 470 ohm resistor.
